Unboxing and hands-on OnePlus 8 review, touring the camera tech, specs, OxygenOS 10.5 features and what you can expect if you grab yourself this 2020 flagship phone. Launched alongside the more premium Pro model, you get similar specs and almost the same sleek design here on the standard OnePlus 8. Sure, the camera setup isn’t quite as strong and this base model doesn’t quite compare for screen resolution, or battery tech. But you get the same high-performance Snapdragon 865 platform, a 90Hz display and – hopefully – a respectable UK asking price.
Although not fully IP rated, the OP8 is still water resistant and made from durable Gorilla Glass. You get a FHD+ 6.55-inch screen, stereo speakers, and 5G support courtesy of the X55 modem. Plus the 4300mAh battery is bigger than the old OnePlus 7T, and not far behind the Pro version.
As for that camera, you get a 48MP primary shooter, 16MP ultra wide lens and a macro snapper on top. The OnePlus 8’s software has changed up as well as the hardware, although all of those classic modes are back in action.
Check out my full OP8 vs Pro comparison and side-by-sides versus the best phones of 2020, not to mention my in-depth reviews. All either live right now or coming very soon!
